About

Born in Italy and educated in Switzerland, Tiziana Amico resides in Zurich and is an artist, photographer and visual researcher. Her migratory background resulted into a certain affinity for topics related to identity, migration and sense of belonging. She has dedicated herself to documenting and researching social phenomena and issues in different regions such as Latin America, Middle East and Europe.

Her work is based on extensive and long-term interdisciplinary studies and participatory methodologies that combine ethnographic research and visual storytelling. She is currently completing a Master of Law with emphasis on humanitarian, socio-political and philosophical fields at the University of Lucerne, Switzerland. Her legal studies broaden her perspectives and give insight to certain issues which usually are difficult to gain access to.

Moreover, she is co-founder and curator of the art collective NUMADI. Her work in this respect focuses on the decolonization of artistic and curatorial practices where she investigates on the reframing of Western epistemologies and creating marginal aesthetics.
